I’m Brian, founder of Kalahari Coffee Cooperative. I moved to Africa in 2009 and have spent more than seventeen years living and working in Kenya, Namibia, Lesotho and Tanzania. Along the way, I’ve worked with coffee farmers across Kenya, Ethiopia, Burundi and Uganda.
I raised a family, started businesses and built a life here. Kalahari grew out of that life, not out of a boardroom.
Why we started
Africa grows extraordinary coffee, yet the farmers behind it too often receive the smallest share of its value. We wanted to do things differently: build direct relationships and real trade between real people, rooted in trust.
